You wanted to make it easier and safer. Just when you thought you would not see another version of Internet Explorer this side of the next ice age, Microsoft comes into the world with a whole new version of its all-powerful browser application.

It has taken so long to do so that many Internet users have grown tired of waiting for Microsoft to update their technology and have mainly looked in the direction of Firefox elsewhere.

Now the great and evil king of the browser world is not in the mood to get his crown off, but can he do enough to take back his defectors?

For starters, the new streamlined interface is definitely an improvement.

Microsoft has basically eliminated the menu bar and hidden all the tools and features in a series of compact icons that are subtly placed in the upper right corner of the interface.

This allows you to view pages in a very large display space. IE has finally decided to support tabbed browsing. It includes a new tab button to open instantly, plus a handy quick tab button that opens thumbnails of all open tabs on a screen, and unlike Firefox, IE 7 actually has a Close button on each tab.

You can also save groups of tabs as your home page so that they start at startup. We also appreciate the print preview tool, which adjusts the page to its role. 7 has improved the way it integrates RSS. When you come across a website that supports RSS, the toolbar icon turns orange.

Click on it and you will come to a page with all the feeds for that website. Just click the link to subscribe to this feed and add it to your favorites.

You can also subscribe by clicking on the small star icon on the left. Unlike Firefox, however, there is no drop-down list for each item in a feed.

Favorite center, accessed by clicking on the big star icon, is divided into favorites, feeds and history.

Security is often one of IE’s weaknesses.

In addition to a popup blocker, version 7 also includes an anti-phishing filter. To test this, we open well-known phishing websites that are published on Phishtank. To our disappointment, the filter did not report most. Phishing may not be the strength of IE 7, but at least the browser contains SSL 2 security protocols.

0 and 3.0 and TLS 1.0, just like Firefox.

Despite all the improvements, IE is still far from perfect. Like Firefox, IE does not pass the Acid2 test and does not even support the latest standards.

We found that IE drags and pulls every time you open new tabs, opens the Tools section, and applies new settings. You can add many search fields and plug-ins from the Microsoft website, but there are still a much smaller number compared to Mozilla’s add-ons for Firefox.

In addition, IE 7 is limited to those of you who have XP SP2 and for some reason you need to disable your antivirus program and restart your computer to install (function () {(‘review-app-page-desktop’) properly.;}) ;
